APACOLIPS
The Lyrical Warner; Hip Hop Revelator
Apacolips was planted, rooted and sprung forth from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. “At first I was known to be a funky bass player, messed around with the keys- now I’m a phat track maker- a breathe taker, once I get you in the groove- make you party all night ‘cause the beat is tight.”
This quote taken from a verse from his latest Hip Hop release, Face Yo’ Self, states best who he is. Apacolips is a unique blend of Bassist/Emcee/Producer all wrapped up in one phenomenal package. Starting with the bass at age 12 studying greats like Stanley Clark, Larry Graham, Bootsy Collins, and Marcus Miller, Apacolips has rocked many stages. A performance that is particularly prominent in his career was when he opened for the Manhattans at Fort Dupont Park in Washington DC with Anthology Band and Show, with Jimi Dougans original member of the Motown recording band The Young Senators. Anthology rocked a crowd of THOUSANDS and after being called to center stage, Apacolips left them screaming for more following his thunderous bass solo. Apacolips’ most recent event, when he's not traveling is a weekly jazz night in “The Palace of the People,” Salaam Restaurant on West 79th Street Chicago, Il, which is known as “Jazz On The 9.”
Apacolips’ Face Yo’ Self is an album that brings back that conscious vibe of Public Enemy, KRS One, and Big Daddy Kane from back in the glory days of classic hip hop. After pushing Face Yo’ Self with national and international success, Apacolips decided to return to his first love, “The Bass.” He is currently working on a smooth jazz type funk bass album accented with a little hip hop flavor titled, “Walk With Me”. This is destined to birth a new flavor in the music world.
