Khalim Futrell (born November 15, 1988), better known as "Lim Leem" is an American Music Producer, DJ, and Songwriter. The name "Lim" comes from the second half of his first name, "Khalim", and "Leem" comes from the way it is pronounced. Lim Leem started off his music career producing for hip-hop and R&B artists, and DJing house parties while attending school. He later started freestyling hooks to his own beats and quickly gained confidence as a songwriter.
Lim was born on November 15, 1988 in Bronx, New York. He later moved to North Carolina and graduated high school from Bertie High (c/o 2006) in Windsor, North Carolina where he ran Track & Field and played on the Marching Band's Drumline, also known as the Drumlords, whom performed at the National Army vs. Navy Football Championship (2006) during his tenure. While attending High School, he taught himself music production using FL Studio and started to record songs with his friend Donvea. Upon graduating high school, he relocated to Greensboro, NC to attend college at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for music studies study. He later switched his studies to business since he had already been teaching himself music. During his tenure at UNCG, he and two of his high school band mates later formed a music production group called TMP, which stood for Tritone Music Productionz. In 2010, The group landed their first record placement with, Miami Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist, Iceberg on Blaze Till Its Gone.
Upon graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies (2011), Lim Leem started to focus on his Solo career as a musician where he could focus on creating his own brand. He began Djing at local clubs and events while experimenting with Progressive House Music Production. In 2013, he quickly gained recognition as a DJ/producer from local club owners and recording studios after releasing his first Electronic Music EP titled Cosmo, in reference to the "space-like, cosmic" sounds used to produce the tracks.
Lim Leem likes to challenge modern commercial trends in music by fusing the sounds of multiple genres together. Over the years, Lim Leem has been able to gain a lot of social presence and currently has over 800,000 soundcloud plays, 15,000 instagram followers, and 8,000 twitter followers, some of which are celebrity status and very popular across multiple social media platforms. He is currently recording an R&B album with Donvea which is scheduled to release in late 2014.
