"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." Nelson Mandela
As a young Tennis player with great skills, music had always been a deeper passion and lurking talent waiting to explode. Fatau Keita discovered his musical genuis at an early age of 16 when he wrote his first song. With a deep passion for acoustic music and string melodies, he started practicing his guitar skills and perfecting his vocal abilities.
Born in Accra on the 7th of April 1987, Fatau Keita originally hails from Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana. Influenced and inspired by artistes such as Salif Keita, Youssou N'dour and Angélique Kidjo, Fatau Keita takes keen interest in studying and following in the successful footsteps of these great African artistes. In his own words he says, "...Salif Keita is my greatest mentor eventho we are yet to meet and play together on the same stage."
Through the changing seasons of life, Fatau Keita has had to struggle most of the time on his own just to make his music career a dream come true. In his words, "...I had to do different minial jobs such as car wash, construction labour and etc just to put food in my mouth and take care of myself." These experiences according to him, made him strong and also inspired most of his songs. "As an artiste, you draw a lot from your experiences and it influences your actions so when you channel those emotions into a positive venture such as music, you end up writing amazing songs. I thank God for everything that i have experienced and continue to experience." he says.
In his spare time, Fatau Keita loves to do tiny bead bracelets for his friends and loved ones. He says, "I love to do these tiny bead bracelets for my friends and loved ones as my way of appreciating their love and support for my career and life. These bracelets to me are priceless and carry all my words of appreciation."
Fatau Keita is yet to release his maiden album. The recording of the album was sponsored entirely by the Goethe-Institut Ghana, represented by its Director, Robert Sobotta and also with the support of Dr. Marcus Coester. The Album features songs such as: "Ma Cheri" , "Act As A Woman" , "Africa" , "Selina" , "Somi Adua" . Album is set to be released soon.
