Chicago native, Stephan “DJ Scend” Steciw, is anything but a stranger to music. At the young age of 5 he chose to pursue learning the piano and by 10 he moved onto and mastered the guitar. The musical influence he had through his father played a big role in developing a love that would eventually grow into a passion and a dream. His experiences while attending local shows brought to light the way crowds can be controlled through music; a control that lay at the hands of the DJ. By 18, he understood his ability to blend music of all genres into a set that worked was something he couldn't take for granted; and so he invested in his first set of turntables and began to work toward a career goal. Working mainly with House and Hip Hop and serving as his own promoter, in 2007 he landed resident spots in clubs, lounges and bars around the Chicagoland area. Also in 2007, he played a street festival for a crowd of over 500 people and for two consecutive years he played at Chicago’s Fiesta Del Sol. In just his first year at CRB Radio his house mixes landed international play and two of his mixes, “For Lil Lady” and “Dig My Style”, were in rotation at three different coffee shops in Canada. It was in 2010 that Scend met Moleman Records recording artist, Scheme. After doing a couple of live shows together Scheme approached him with an offer to be his personal and full-time DJ. Knowing this was the right move, Scend quit the bars and clubs. Since then the duo has kept busy opening and headlining show both locally and nationally. DJ Scend’s love for music has brought him full circle into production and engineering and today he is steadily busy working on various Hip Hop and House music projects. DJ Scend's work is a full display of his passion for music and as he constantly looks for ways to perfect his craft his passion and talent grow. His determination to bring quality music to the forefront of the industry is apparent in every project he gets involved with, and it’s no question we’re nowhere near hearing the last of DJ Scend and his team.
