The upcoming EP "Lyrical Trap" and new album “Old Bay”, from Baltimore rap artist “Bossman The God”, couldn’t come at a better time. As a new generation takes the reins, Bossman combines the sensibilities of street tales littered with wisdom with his refreshing “food for thought” style absent in mainstream rap.
So often we've heard stories of young African-American males succumbing to the call of inner city street life by chasing expensive cars and fast money. Having parents who battled drug addiction and were in and out of prison, one would expect a child to be influenced by the major authority figures in their lives but not Travis "Bossman The God" Holifield, who found sanctuary in writing and creating music.
Growing up in the home of HBO’s “The Wire” and “Homicide: Life on the Streets”, Bossman was able to put a positive spin on the negative light that his city had been placed in. Crafting and selling his hit mixtapes would give birth to Baltimore’s street anthem “O” and the hit singles “I Did It” and “Off da Record”. Since his initial releases, Bossman has amassed a catalog of mixtapes selling over 30,000 units independently throughout the District of Columbia and beyond. The independent release of his debut album “Law and Order” in 2004 sold over 10,000 copies alone, according to an impressive Soundscan report. This awesome showing of talent and skill could possibly explain generating major-label interest. Bossman signed a deal in 2005 with Virgin Records through Atlanta producer and hitmaker Jermaine Dupri, president of its Urban Division at the time. His tenure at Virgin saw his hit single “Handclap”, produced by platinum music producer Rockwilder, placed on NBA Live 2007 and created opportunities to work with hit producers No ID, Scott Storch, Kwame, Clinton Sparks, and of course Jermaine Dupri himself.
After Dupri’s exit from Virgin Records in 2006, Bossman landed another deal with Myspace/Interscope Records, as well as, a publishing deal with Notting Hill Music after releasing his second single “Break Me Off”, off his second LP “The Re-Up”. This relationship, although short-lived, allowed the opportunity of a remix of “Break Me Off” which featured hip-hop artists Gucci Mane, Jim Jones and Grammy nominated R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn. Two other singles from the album, “O.M.G” and “I’m Where It’s At”, were featured in the independent film “The Coalition”, written by NFL All-Star Terrell Suggs of the Baltimore Ravens and in the BET hit series “The Game”. Another two songs “Ayo” and “So Fresh” were featured in Season 5 of The Wire, as well as, on the soundtrack The Wire: Beyond Hamsterdam.
Through all of the ups and downs of the industry, Bossman remains consistent in his approach and his commitment to making great music, always striving to change the rap game. Through personal transformation, he feels he can give his fans more of himself as an artist as opposed to an image or a gimmick made up to generate sales.
His new EP "Lyrical Trap" (set to be released August 26, 2018) will be followed up by his third and newest studio album “Old Bay” (to be released independently later in the Fall of 2018) along with a short musical bio-drama titled B.O.S.S.: Based On Struggle and Success. The upcoming EP introduces Bossman The God in his element, at the helm of energetic street anthems radiating with energy and lyrical finesse. He intends to hold nothing back, giving his fans, old and new, a fresh perspective on an original sound he ordained "lyrical trap". After major record deals and several independent album releases, Bossman has returned to where it all started, showing fans that this rap heavyweight is capable of carrying not only his city, but the world on his shoulders…

Bossman The God Releases Long-Anticipated EP, Representing DMV
Baltimore, MD (August 21, 2018) – Baltimore's premiere rap heavyweight Bossman The God (formerly “Bossman”) releases Lyrical Trap, his long-anticipated EP. With the hit title track, “Lyrical Trap” and upcoming tracks “Uber”, produced by Edeezbeats x Roots and “Escobar 600”, produced by 1UpEnt, this Son of Baltimore is carrying DMV hip hop on his back once again.
Having parents who battled drug addiction and were in and out of prison, Travis "Bossman The God" Holifield overcame the odds to make it big in rap. The long-time MC and host of Off the Record Talk first rose to national fame in 2003 and is the mind behind hits like NBA Live 2007’s “Handclap”, produced by Grammy-award winning producer Rockwilder while signed under Virgin Records with then, President of the Urban Music Division, Jermaine Dupri, at the helm; and “I Did It,” “Off the Record” and “O,” the classic Baltimore anthem. Bossman also wrote tracks for Season 5 of HBO’s The Wire, based on his home city, though he wants to redefine pop culture’s view of Baltimore.
“Baltimore is more than what you see in the news. It’s culture, it’s hip hop, it’s energy, it’s art. I wrote the tracks on Lyrical Trap to show the rest of the country and the world the talent that exists here”, states the rap veteran.
Andre Alexander, CEO of Phantasy Management adds "Phantasy is all about Baltimore, and about promoting the talent and tenacity of its independent artists. Bossman is Baltimore at its best, and we are proud to help introduce ‘Lyrical Trap’, ‘Uber,’ and Bossman’s latest sound not only to audiences in the DMV, but across the country, as well”.
The eight-track digital only EP introduces Bossman The God in his element, at the helm of energetic street anthems radiating with energy and lyrical finesse. He holds nothing back, giving his fans, old and new, a fresh perspective on an original sound he ordained "lyrical trap".
